Vareniki are the pierogi side of the family: pillowy dough wrapped around potato, mushroom, farmer's cheese or fruit. Boil until they float, then finish in a hot buttered pan until the edges turn golden.

Cooking and labels

Boil from frozen until they float, five to eight minutes. Finish the savory ones in a hot buttered pan with onion until the edges go golden; the sweet ones go straight to the plate with sour cream.
